A Practical Guide to Selling Info Products
As we know, affiliate marketing and Amazon affiliate programs are the most used ways to make money online and in fact, it’s not far from the truth.
These two methods are big $ earners and most affiliate marketers have on average more than one affiliate website.
I have 3 affiliate websites and only one of them is making money consistently. This is very normal because not every site you build is going to make money.
Most of the time it’s hard to break the wall and make a site profitable. Most common reasons for not being able to make your affiliate site profitable are:
- Inability to create quality content
- Choosing wrong niche/product
- Competition
- Lack of patience or quitting too soon
Why Info Product?
Most people don’t know or forget about info products that are real money makers online. If you can create an info product you can make a big buck online.
Even if you can’t create your own info product you still can sell someone else’s info product and still make a lot of money.
Because most product owners pay high commissions for promoting their info products. On average they pay at least 50% per sale which is awesome.
Very often they pay monthly (recurring commissions) which is absolutely awesome because in that case you don’t need to sell every time.
Once you made one sale you would earn a commission every single month after that.
How to Create an Info Product
Creating info product is not easy. It takes a lot of effort and time but it’s worth the time you spend on it.
Because today/s world is the world of info, digital info. Digital info can be anything like eBook, eCourse (text step-by-step or video course). All of this is highly profitable.
The best thing about info product is that you can create such a product even if you are not en expert in that field.
All you need for that is your willing to spend a good amount of time to do an in-depth research using internet and spend some time to create an info product based on your research. Anyone can do it.
Primarily you can use free sources available online or you can even pay for some info in order to get into the subject and then create your own awesome info product.
There are two ways to create an info product:
- You can create an info product for beginners
- You can create an info product for advanced level
Both products are in high demand. There are a lot of people that are looking for beginner’s info and there are a lot of people looking for advanced stuff.
Of course, info product for advanced level is always way more expensive than for beginners. Advanced info product can be sold for a few hundred dollars at least.
Some courses may cost up to $1.000 or even $2.000. Beginner’s course or en eBook may cost normally up to $100 which is still great considering you can make 2,3 sales a day.
Or even if your info product cost around $30 and you make one sale a day it means you can earn $900 per month. In fact, it’s going to be your passive income.
You spend your time only once to create a product and the sell it for years to come.
Info product for beginners doesn’t require much time to create one while info product for advanced level may require some good amount of time and effort.
Anyway, both products are well worth the time you will spend on it.
Remember that you can also outsource creating your info product to someone else from sites like Upwork or Fiverr.
It may cost you up to $1.000 or even more but if you know how to sell and monetize online it’s worth the investment.
Pitfalls of selling an info product
As I said, selling an info product is a great way to earn a solid income online or even selling someone else’s product. But does it mean anyone can do it?
Unfortunately, not everyone can do it. There are mainly two ways to sell an info product online.
- Free method through SEO (search engine traffic, YouTube)
- Paid method through paid traffic (PPC, solo ad)
First method which is SEO requires knowledge and skills to get your blog appear in top search results of Google and drive a massive traffic to your business.
Once you can drive enough traffic to your blog you can start advertising your info product and monetizing your traffic.
At least you need 25-30.000 monthly visits to your website in order to be able to make a good amount of sales.
Without this kind of traffic you simply can’t sell your info product even if you’ve created the best product in the world.
There are two programs that I know can help you learn how to get traffic to your product. I will talk about it further in this article.
Basically, you need to create around 100-200 blog posts to start getting a good amount of traffic.
Especially YouTube is an excellent way to drive traffic and promote your info product. Driving traffic via YouTube is much easier than via Google search traffic.
Search traffic normally takes about 6 months to see some decent traffic while YouTube can send you traffic within a few days.
Youtube traffic potential is way higher than search traffic.
Paid traffic is another way to promote your info product. This method requires some solid investment in paid traffic and you need to be very careful before spending money.
On average if your click costs around $0.15 it means you can get 6.666 real visits to your blog where you sell your info product considering you spend $1000.
If price of your info product is around $30 it means you need to make at least 40 sales in order to earn $1.200.
So, you are profitable which means you made $200 per campaign. To make 40 sales out of 6.666 clicks is not an easy task to be honest. I know it firsthand.
You need to take into account aspects like high demand for your product, usefulness and uniqueness of your product.
Finally, you need to set up your landing page where you plan to promote your info product properly for maximum conversions i.e. sales.
Where to find an info product if you don’t have your own?
There are many places where you can find info products to promote. Places such as Clickbank, Warriorplus, JVZoo have thousands of products.
I personally prefer promoting products from JVZoo because they have very simple regulations and commissions are paid out in very easy and simple way.
You make a sale you get your commission via PayPal. The other two places, WarriorPlus or Clickbank have complicated rules.
Before you can get your commission you need to make a few sales. I once made a sale and earned $94 and WarriorPlus didn’t pay me.
WarriorPlus explains in a very weird way: You need to make sales to a minimum of 5 unique buyers before your account is eligible to make withdrawals.
