Why People Fail to Make Money Online

The main reason why people fail to make money online is this: They don’t realize what they are getting into.

They don’t realize it! I know if you are on my site and reading this article you want to know why you are not making money.

Why other people are making money while you are failing.

And I promise that by the end of my article you will know exactly what is wrong with your internet business and why you are not making money and how you can too start making money.

Main reasons why you are not making money

Lack of understanding of what you’re getting into

I’ve been in online business since 2014 and have seen many people trying to make money online but most of them failed miserably.

I have tried many programs. Unfortunately, I must admit that situation is not good at all.

First, because most people miserably fail when it comes to online business.

Second, because most programs that I’ve seen so far are low quality programs that mainly focus on your pockets, not helping you.

An overwhelming majority of people really don’t understand what they are getting into when it comes to making money online.

They see misleading advertisements that promise to help them make a lot of money on autopilot and people start to believe and think that making money online is super easy and doesn’t require any skills, knowledge or experience.

This is wrong. If you want money you need to work hard, no matter where, in real life or online. We all know that money doesn’t grow on trees. But for some reason some people believe that they grow on trees on the internet.

It may seem a little primitive and simplistic that I’m trying to explain such a simple thing but the truth is that I have to do it because every single day thousands of people get scammed online.

And they get scammed because they don’t realize what they are getting into.

They don’t realize that in order to make a solid income online you need to treat your online business seriously.

You need to have a plan and follow it. You need to do some work every single day at least in the first 1,2 years.

If you don’t do so and spend only 2,3 hours per week then you shouldn’t expect serious results from your online efforts. Serious results require serious approach, hard work, dedication, some patience.

Without these components you will never achieve your financial goals online.

Lack of education

Lack of education is another reason why people fail to make money online. Like anything in life if you want to create something beautiful or do something professionally you need education first. Making money online is not an exception to this rule.

You need to go through the certification course crafted for people wanting to learn how to make money online. Courses are different.

There are good ones and there are bad ones. Without proper education you will be doing things that will end up making you little to zero dollar online.

Courses are not expensive. Most of them are affordable. Some course may cost you up to several thousand dollars but you really don’t need them at all.

I’ve seen people who bought those courses and ended up making zero dollar back. A friend of mine invested $7.000 in such a course and made zero dollar back.

But you definitely need an education if you want to get results.

Get quality education here! It’s the same course I got my start back in 2013.

slice the pie

There are other two courses I can recommend.

Lack of Support

People fail online because they don’t get quality support from programs they pay for. Making money online is not a set and forget type of venture.

It’s an ongoing process that will never stop. You learn new things and apply them. You need support down the road.

Very often people pay for programs and when having questions they can’t get them answered.

You need to become a member of an online business community like this one where everyone cares about each other and you can get support within minutes. Only with this kind of support you can become successful online.

Lack of action and consistency

Another reason for failing to make money online is the lack of action. Some people pay for programs, learn the material and then don’t take any action.

They don’t treat their business seriously, they don’t think making money online is real and that’s why they don’t take action.

Or another scenario is when they take action one day or one week and then don’t do anything.

They think it’s already enough and they must be making money by the next week. No, this will NOT happen.

Making money online doesn’t work that way. You need to take action continuously.

Once you’ve decided to start a business online you need to dedicate some time to it, probably 10,15 hours per week at least.

Lack of motivation

Most people that I’ve seen in online business fail because of lack of self-motivation.

When they are just starting they have a ton of motivation. They work hard for some time, most of the time 1,2 months and when they don’t see results they lose motivation.

When you start your online business you need to understand that it will take some time before you see money in your back account. You have to motivate yourself.

You work for yourself and no one is going to pay you for your work. YOU have to earn money. It’s really important to understand and keep in your mind.

Lack of patience

When you start your very own online business you need to give it some time, probably 6 months at least.

Most of the time up to 1 year or sometimes even 2 years before you start making a solid monthly income.

Most people due to the lack of patience quit very fast and never make any money online.

Then they start to complain that they have been scammed or that making money online is not real. It’s just a waste of time.

The truth is that they are wrong. Making money online is absolutely possible and real. You can see my income proof below.

Lack of willingness to invest some money

Many people when it comes to learning how to make money online don’t want to invest money in courses, trainings, tools required for building an online business and making money.

Though they spend a lot of money on useless things each and every month.

They buy expensive tablets, phones, smart watches etc. I can tell you that in order to make money online you don’t actually need to spend a ton of money.

I spend approx. $500 per year.

This is a bare minimum for your online business. This includes training, support, hosting, website, keyword tool, autoresponder such as Aweber or Getresponse.

For example, I spend approx. $500 per year but I make $10.000. Way more than what I invest. Right?

So, if you are not willing to invest some time, effort and money in your education, your future then you are not serious about making money online.

No plan to follow

Finally, most people don’t have a plan to follow and even if they have it they don’t follow it.

You need to think and analyze the market to decide what to do to grow your business.

Without plan, discipline and schedule you won’t be able to achieve any of your online business goals.

I’m now going to show you some practical steps on how you can improve your business and start making money online.

Practical Steps on How to Start Making Money

Now I want to show you some practical steps based on my personal experience that will help you grow your business and start making money if you are still not making money.

Because my article wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t show you how to make money except talking about reasons for not making money.

First of all, online business is based on providing value to people in the form of educating them through text content (blogging) or videos (YouTubing).

This is the foundation of your business. It also involves social marketing, email marketing.

Once you have your blog (website) up and running you need to continuously write fresh, new content for your website.

Because the more content you create the more chances that some of your content will get top positions on Google and will bring you a lot of free traffic (visitors).

The same applies to Youtube.

More visitors means more sales because through your content you are going to not only help people but promote some services and products.

Some of your visitors will end up buying some of your recommended products and YOU will make money.

The key here is to write a lot of content, probably 5 articles a week in the first 2 years. Then you can slow the process and write 2,3 times a week. I hope you now understand the process.

It’s highly advisable to launch your own YouTube video channel And drive additional traffic to your website.

Some people prefer watching videos over reading. That’s why you need to take advantage of this opportunity in order to make more money.

Social activity

You need to create social accounts, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest etc. You can create way more but I personally use these only.

If you post to Facebook groups it can bring you more additional traffic.

If you share your content, leave some comments and interact with others this will lead to more interaction, traffic and conversions. Do it consistently and you will get pretty good results. The same applies to Twitter and Pinterest.

Quora and Yahoo Answers is another great source of traffic. Especially I love Quora. They have a ton of content almost on any subject.

First, you need to create a free account and then actively participate by leaving your valuable answers along with links to your site. This will bring some good traffic.

The more active you will be the more traffic you can expect to your website. As I said, normally more traffic means more sales.

Amazon kindle

Amazon Kindle is simply fantastic. You can write an ebook or outsource its creation to upwork.com and then publish it on Kindle network.

BTW, you can find a ton of videos on this on YouTube. You can both, make sales and get traffic to your website.

Kindle’s traffic is huge and if you can take advantage of this opportunity it can make you some or a lot of money.

Email marketing

Email marketing is also highly advisable. It doesn’t cost a lot. GetResponse is the best option in terms of functionality and price.

For $150 per year you can get a chance to talk to some of your visitors multiple times. Normally most visitors to any site visit it and then leave it forever.

Thanks to email marketing you can give them a chance to subscribe to your email list and receive news, notifications, info from you as many times as you want.

This will increase your trust in their eyes and some of them will likely convert into buyers. In fact, email marketing is the most powerful way to make money online.

The best way would be creating different email sequences to increase conversions instead of sending one time emails.

You can also comment on high traffic authority blogs because this way you can get more traffic to your site.

Don’t leave useless comments for the purpose of saying something because most likely your comment will be deleted.

If you read the blog and leave an insightful comment along with the link to your site most likely your comment will be approved.

Don’t forget about backlinks. I don’t mean buying links from low quality sites. Backlinks are still important as a ranking factor.

It can improve your site rankings over time and the traffic accordingly.

The best way would be writing guest posts on authority blogs or getting links from other sites in your niche.

For example, if you have your main blog I would also recommend to build a second one and write some content for it.

Then you can contact other blogs in your niche and ask them to link back to your main blog (to some of your content).

You can link back to them as well but not from your main blog but from your second blog.

Because Google doesn’t like link swapping. Avoid it. When you link back from another blog then there is no fear in doing that.

BTW, by doing it you can both improve your site rankings and get more traffic from other sites in your niche.

Let’s do it!

There are many other ways too but it’s not easy or practical to do everything. It’s better to focus on some methods and strictly follow your plan.

Over time it will lead to much greater results and your income will increase as well. Let me know what you think about my article.

What is your experience when it comes to making money online? Share yours here and let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to help you out.

Ok, it is probably not going to generate a lot of traffic in the first months and maybe years, but in the long run it will, or?

I mean writing that many articles is currently impossible for me. I cannot work through the night and not sleep anymore:-) Thanks for your response,

    • Rufat says:

I think it will. It depends on how much effort you put into it. If you want you can over 200 articles in the first year and your traffic will come. But you need to do other things that I mentioned above in my article. Online business is not an easy thing. Like any other business it takes a lot of effort and patience.

    Hello Rufat,

Nice website and very informative post. I have just started doing this and things have been going smooth so far. I’m only on week 2 so thanks for this post, it has motivated me.

I now know to not give up no matter what even if I don’t make anything for the first 6 months. How long do you think it would take to reach 4000 a month?

    • Rufat says:

To be honest, I don’t know how much it will take for you to make $4.000 per month. I’m making $1.000. Not everyone can make more than $1.000 per month. If Google sends you a lot traffic then you can make even more than $4.000. I know people who have been able to reach that mark within 2 years. For some people it can take 5 years. I really don’t know an exact answer.

  3. Oscar says:

Wow, you hit the nail on the head. I started online marketing around 3 months ago and I am still not giving up.

I tend to read stories of success in affiliate marketing once or twice a week to stay motivated. Your story is motivating to me. And I am not willing to give in.

However, one thing that really hit me was that you said you need to post at least 5 articles per week in the first 2 years. I think with that many quality articles, you would be successful or have a solid income earlier, or?

Im work 8-5 and there is no way I can manage to put that much content up weekly. In the last 3 months I have published 1-2 1500-3200 word articles consistently, which is the most I can do in a week. (I have 2 small boys and a full time job – which takes up my energy).

I would like to hear you on that.

However, I work around 10-15 hours weekly on my website and progressing fine as I am learning new things every day.

I am not giving up, even though I know my journey will be longer than the 5 articles per week recipe.

Thanks for this insightful article. Gives me hope!

    • Rufat says:

You are doing right. Always read some success stories because like you say it will motivate you. It’s really important to motivate yourself especially when you are not making money in the first few months. Regarding writing 5 articles per week, yes it’s important to write as more content as possible. Because it’s a numbers game. The more content you have the more chances that some of your content will generate more traffic to your website. Like you I have a family and two children. I also go to a regular work 3 times a week. I understand that it’s not easy. But that’s the way how you can build your online business. Writing 1,2 articles per week will not get you much traffic. At least you should be writing 3,4 articles per week. And also do other things mentioned in the article.

Fantastic page with a lot of very informative information. personally I have found that any get rich quick site is a scam. Money gets earned by working hard for it.
I have been dabbling around the online business issue for about six months now and I am so disappointed that I have not spent all that time on WA. Keep these types of posts coming and I am sure you will give a lot of people proper answers on how to make an online business a success.

    • Rufat says:

Yes, money can be made only through working both hard and smart. It’s really bad that you have been wasting your time, effort and money for so long. But it’s great that you finally came to the right place and now know exactly what to do in order to gradually build and then grow your affiliate marketing business. My advice is to stay focused on your website and work hard on achieving your goals. Make a plan and follow it. It’s really important. If you don’t do it consistently you won’t achieve results you might be expecting. Stay focused and it will happen.
