Do I Need a Website to Make Money Online?
The reason that inspired me to write on this topic was the review on Affiliate Bomb program that I had come across on the web.
The owners of Affiliate Bomb claim that you don’t actually need a website to make money online. They claim that to succeed you just need to choose the right product, sign up as an affiliate and promote your affiliate link.
Many folks who are new to internet marketing get confused by such statements, and due to lack of experience and knowledge they become victims of scammers that are a lot nowadays.
Even though building your own website is pretty easy, most find it difficult and fail to overcome their fear. My task today is to show and convince you that if you really want to make serious money online you need a website and that building a website is not as difficult as you might be thinking.
Making money online without having a website
First of all, I would like to point out that if you don’t have a website you still can make money.
1. You can take online paid surveys and it doesn’t require any skills to start. You need to sign up for as many survey companies as you can and then complete surveys each time you are notified by email. But before that, you need to separate legit survey companies from scams or otherwise you will be wasting your time. For more information read my article. Keep in mind, that you can use this opportunity as a side income because you will NOT make a lot by taking surveys.
2. You can get paid for posting links though it is a dying industry. You are required to post text ads on blogs, Facebook, Twitter and other social network sites and get paid for that. You can read my in-depth article here. The main idea is that you can use this opportunity as a side income but since it involves unlawful internet practices I don’t recommend you to get involved in that type of activity.
3. You can create a video and upload it on YouTube. But it is not as simple as you might be thinking. Before you join YouTube partner program and start getting paid by YouTube you need to get a lot of views on your own videos. The more views you get the more chances that ads placed on your channel are clicked and you get paid for that.
4. You can browse the web and still get paid for that. Read my article.
You can read my full article on more ways of making money online without having a website. The main idea is that none of these opportunities can serve you as your main income.
If you don’t have a website, you can find someone else’s product, sign up, get your affiliate link and then start promoting it. But how can you promote it?
You may think that you can browse YouTube videos, read their descriptions, add your own comments and insert your affiliate link.
But the problem is that you will not get many clicks and in addition to that your account can be banned very soon by YouTube. It is a short term strategy and doesn’t make any sense.
You may think that you can promote your affiliate link on Facebook, Twitter or other social network sites. But the problem is that internet community doesn’t like that type of behaviour and your affiliate link will most probably get only few clicks. There is a high probability that your account will be banned.
You can buy PPC traffic (pay per click) to promote your affiliate link but you need to have a budget to do that and the problem with this type of promotion is that you can easily waste all your budget with no results.
Google doesn’t allow using affiliate links in PPC campaigns. You can do it on Bing (Yahoo). Now ask yourself, how long are you ready to spend money on PPC, even if accepted, until you make at least one or two sales from your affiliate link?
To make money online without having a website is similar to selling a product without having a shop in real world. You can never build relationships with your visitors/customers because if you don’t have your own shop/website you will not have return visitors.
If you have your own website that means you have a full control over the content that you have on your site and you can build relationships with your visitors which is crucial for your success online.
If you have your own website and create unique content you can get tons of free traffic from search engines, such as Google, Bing and Yahoo. The more content you have the more traffic you will get and sales accordingly. If you don’t have your own website you can’t bring any traffic. Plain and simple.
The only reasonable way to promote anything on social network sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google + is to offer a link to an interesting content that you have on your website and when people visit your site and read your content some of them will probably click your affiliate link and make a purchase.
This is a real business model that works and there is no other way of making serious money online. And the same applies to YouTube or PPC campaigns.
Where to start to make money online?
To build a website is very easy and you can do it with a few clicks of your mouse. You just need to choose a domain name, a template that you like and build it. Customization of a website can take a couple of hours but it is not difficult.
You can watch some videos on YouTube and that will be enough to accomplish the task. After that, I advise you to go through 10 free lessons of the certification course at Wealthy Affiliate.
Wealthy Affiliate is the #1 training centre in the world that helped thousands of people to build a successful business online and they helped me to build my business.
If you want to have your own website I advise you to look no further to save yourself from scams. Read more of my stuff to have a clear idea of what you are expected to know to succeed online. It is all free and if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
I also think a website is necessary if a person wants to make money online through affiliate marketing. However, they don’t need one if they earn money in other ways like ghost writing. Because I went the ghost writing route first, I always advise people to just start off with their own website. It will be hard and there’s a big learning curve, but it’s more enjoyable and pays off in the long-term.

Hmm..so pretty much building a website may be a very solid way to make pretty income. I’ve been kind of toying with the idea of combining youtube and my website together. But I guess I’ll hold off on that since I’m still at the beginner’s phase. What’s your opinion on this? Plus I’d like to have some really brilliant idea before jumping into making my own youtube channel.
Of course, building a site can be a very profitable business if you apply the right techniques. Regarding combining youtube and your website I personally think this is a great idea. I have my channel too, but I have a few videos, about 20 and I get visitors to my website from my channel now and then. If you create videos, product reviews you can drive more traffic to your website and make more money accordingly. I’m not an expert in this field yet. I hope you know Leo Emery from WA and this man has a lot of experience in video marketing. He has a website that has little content and he drives traffic from his channel to his website and makes a full time income. That’s why I recommend starting a channel and combining it with your website. I think you can achieve success faster if you do so. Just remember to link each of your video to your website.
